The peeling is the easy part. The work that determines the outcome is everything after: getting the glue off completely, repairing the wall, and prepping it so the new paint goes on smooth.

Step 1 — Assessment and estimate. We check what you're dealing with — the type of wallpaper, how many layers, how it was hung, and the condition of the wall underneath. Some walls were never primed before papering, which affects how the paper comes off. You get a written estimate before anything starts.
Step 2 — Protection and setup. We move or cover furniture, protect floors and trim, and set up so the mess — and wallpaper removal is messy — stays contained.
Step 3 — Removal. The wallpaper is removed using the right method for the type and how it was installed. We work to lift the paper and backing cleanly while protecting the drywall surface underneath.
Step 4 — Adhesive removal and repair. All remaining adhesive is cleaned off — this is the step DIY jobs most often miss. Any torn paper, gouges, or damaged areas are repaired and, where needed, skim coated smooth.
Step 5 — Prime, paint, and cleanup. The repaired wall is primed and painted for an even finish. We walk the room with you, handle touch-ups, remove protection, and leave the space clean.

It depends on the size of the area, how many layers there are, how the wallpaper was hung, and the condition of the wall underneath once it's stripped. Wallpaper over an unprimed wall, or multiple layers, takes more work. We provide detailed written estimates at no charge — the wall's condition under the paper is the biggest variable, so a walk-through is the reliable way to price it.
In most cases we don't recommend it. Painting over wallpaper can work in limited situations, but seams and texture usually show through, and any loosening later takes the paint with it. Removing the paper and refinishing the wall gives a proper, lasting result. We assess your specific walls and give you an honest recommendation at the estimate.
Some surface disruption is normal — the goal is to remove the paper and adhesive while protecting the drywall underneath, then repair anything that does come up. Torn drywall paper, gouges, and old glue are all fixable, and repairing the wall to a smooth, paint-ready surface is part of our process. That's the difference between a professional job and a DIY strip that leaves the wall in rough shape.
