Drywall Repair Winnipeg

Integrity Painting repairs drywall in Winnipeg homes and has been finishing walls and ceilings since 1992. We patch cracks, holes, nail pops, and water-damaged areas, then sand, prime, and repaint so the repair blends into the surrounding wall instead of standing out. Every project is backed by our satisfaction guarantee: we'll repaint for free if you're not happy with the result.

Why Drywall Cracks and Fails in Winnipeg Homes

Most drywall damage isn't a sign anything's wrong with your house — it's normal wear, and Winnipeg's climate makes some of it more common. Homes here move with the seasons: the big swing between humid summers and bone-dry, heated winters causes framing to expand and contract, and that movement shows up as hairline cracks over doors and windows and as nail or screw pops on walls and ceilings.

The rest is everyday life — a doorknob through the wall, furniture damage, a botched shelf install, or water staining from an old leak. None of it is hard to fix. What's hard is fixing it so you can't tell where the repair was. A patch that isn't feathered, sanded, and repainted correctly leaves a visible bump or a flashing spot where the sheen doesn't match. The repair is only finished when it disappears.

What Our Drywall Repair Service Covers

We handle the common drywall and plaster problems in Winnipeg homes:

- Hairline and stress cracks (over doors, windows, and along seams)
- Nail pops and screw pops on walls and ceilings
- Small to large holes — from doorknob dents to full sheet sections
- Water-damaged and stained drywall (once the source is fixed)
- Corner bead damage and dented edges
- Seam and tape failures
- Skim coating to smooth rough or patched areas
- Priming and repainting so repairs blend in

We repair before we paint — it's the same standard we bring to every interior project. For full-room or whole-home repainting, see our interior painting page.

Our Process: Repair That Disappears

Step 1 — Assessment and estimate. We look at the damage, identify the cause where it matters (a recurring crack or active moisture needs the source addressed first), and give you a written estimate.

Step 2 — Preparation. We protect floors and furniture, then cut back and clean up the damaged area so the patch has a sound edge to bond to. Loose tape, crumbling material, and popped fasteners are dealt with properly rather than covered over.

Step 3 — Patch and fill. Holes are patched with the right method for their size — from filler for small dents to backing and new board for larger sections. Cracks are taped or filled to resist reopening. Fasteners are reset.

Step 4 — Tape, mud, and sand. Joints are taped and mudded, then feathered out in coats and sanded smooth so the repair blends flat into the surrounding surface. This staging is what makes a patch invisible.

Step 5 — Prime, paint, and cleanup. Repaired areas are primed and repainted so the sheen and colour match. On a wall with an existing colour, blending or repainting the full wall may be needed for a seamless result — we advise on this at the estimate. We clean up and leave the space tidy.

Frequently Asked Questions — Drywall Repair Winnipeg

How much does drywall repair cost in Winnipeg?

It depends on the number and size of the repairs, whether they're on walls or ceilings, and whether repainting is a small blend or a full wall. A few nail pops is a small job; a large water-damaged section that needs new board and repainting is more involved. We provide detailed written estimates at no charge.

Do you repaint after repairing the drywall?

Yes. Priming and repainting are part of the service so the repair blends in rather than leaving a patch you can see. Depending on the wall's existing colour and sheen, we may recommend painting the full wall for a seamless result — we'll tell you what's needed at the estimate.

Why do cracks keep coming back over my doors and windows?

Hairline cracks over doors and windows are usually caused by seasonal movement — Winnipeg's humid summers and dry, heated winters make framing expand and contract, which stresses the drywall at those weak points. Filling the crack is a short-term fix if the movement isn't accounted for; we use taping and repair methods designed to resist reopening, and we'll flag if something structural is worth looking at.

Can you match the repair to the rest of my wall?

That's the goal of every repair — feathering, sanding, priming, and matching the paint so you can't tell where the damage was. Perfectly matching paint on an older wall can be difficult because existing paint fades over time, so in some cases repainting the whole wall gives the cleanest result. We advise on this at the estimate.

Do you fix water-damaged drywall?

Yes, once the source of the water is fixed. We remove and replace damaged material, treat staining, and refinish the area. If the moisture is still active, that has to be resolved first — repairing over an ongoing leak just means doing it again.
